The Grades 4/5 Class teacher told a moving story about her Grandfather who was seriously wounded at Vimy Ridge. The students were encouraged to write a poem or letter about Remembrance Day. Some of the students chose to write a letter home to their parents, as if they were soldiers fighting on the front, while others chose to write poems about Remembrance Day. |
It's been rough with all the fighting going on and I do hope it ends soon, with us victorious of course. I am writing to you from a trench. It is too dangerous for me to come out though I wish I could. I came here to save my country knowing I might die and I'm down here saving my own skin. I feel I should be out there, so that's why I'm leaving the trench today. Well I just wrote to fill you in. Love,
