The Grades 4/5 Class teacher told a moving story about her Grandfather who was seriously wounded at Vimy Ridge. The students were encouraged to write a poem or letter about Remembrance Day. Some of the students chose to write a letter home to their parents, as if they were soldiers fighting on the front, while others chose to write poems about Remembrance Day. |
This war has been very hard for me. I was wounded on my leg but it doesn't bother me very much. I won't be home for quite a while. I am writing you from a trench in Europe. As you know, I am fighting with the Canadians and am fighting the Germans. I'm catching a wink so I can fight better tomorrow. I hope you miss me because I miss you. I love you. P.S. I pray I return. Bye, bye
