Cyril DAVIES

Cyril DAVIES daughter, Julie Wilson, is looking for information on her fathers war experience. Any information anyone can provide would be most appreciated.

Cyril DAVIES was born in 1916 and died in 2004. He enlisted with the Calgary Highlanders and spent most of World War II in England. His Service Number was M.52003.

He was reported to be a "batman" (driver) with his outfit. He fell into a sump pit on patrol one night and spent quite a bit of time in the infirmary after that. It is not known if he saw combat.

SEARCH UPDATE:
  • A good source of information on the Calgary Highlander Regiment History & Deployment can be found on Wikipedia and Regiments.org.
  • Just what a "batman" did was more than just being a driver.A description of the activities of a batman from someone in the British Army can be found on Seasons Of War website

[Editor] If anyone can provide any information at all, it would be very appreciated if you could contact me at the address below. Thank you.
