M y father passed away last year, and I just recently got around to looking through his military papers, dating from the early days of the second world war. I found tucked away with his pay book, this letter from Buckingham Palace, signed by King George. I don't imagine there are too many of them left, I am told that only 5,000 were issued, and I'm sure that most were lost through the years.
