Thoughts of a Hero Once I stood tall, filled with a noble cause. My head held high, I answered the call for which I could die. We dare not loose fighting for what's right and we waged a determined fight for freedom. Alone with my thoughts, time passes me by. I close my eyes, as I journey back where I was needed. My stomach ties in knots, as my memories come alive to haunt me. Though terrors line my face, my eyes still twinkle. Forever a soldier but with wrinkles. My nightmares remain quiet for the grace of my land. My heart swells with pride, forever at thy command.
